Al-Anon at Fellowship of the Spirit Al-Anon has been an integral part of Fellowship of the Spirit from the beginning. A sizable number of Al-Anon members attend the conference each year, some accompanying the recovering alcoholics in their lives, and many attending by themselves or with other Al-Anons. Al-Anons participate actively in the step workshops that are the core of the main conference program; they are included in the panels, and are encouraged to contribute their experience strength and hope from the floor as well. One of the conference's five main speakers is always an Al-Anon member, and will speak on Friday evening. This year's Al-Anon speaker is JC A., from Denver, CO. There is one planned Al-Anon workshop each day, and Al-Anon members may also conduct spontaneous meetings or workshops in the Al-Anon conference room. The Al-Anon meetings are open, and everyone is invited to attend. For some members of AA, this can be their first exposure to an Al-Anon meeting. The topics of the Al-Anon meetings for the 2008 Conference are:
We will discuss our experience, strength, and hope around the Big Book in our recovery and in sponsorship. As we did last year, we have kept the Saturday meeting later in the afternoon to allow everyone to attend all of the workshops and meetings. We view the Al-Anon meetings as an addition to the workshops, not as a substitute for them. We encourage Al-Anon members to fully participate in all of the step workshops. We also invite and encourage A.A. members to attend Al-Anon meetings. Al-Anon members from across the nation and around the world are invited to join us in the Colorado mountains to share in The Fellowship of the Spirit. Questions?
