Our Experience Has Taught Us...
Tips From Fellowship of the Spirit Veterans

Folks who have been to the conference thought some of these tips might be helpful to you:

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FIRST ARRIVE:

Welcome attendees of the 2011 Fellowship of the Spirit Conference! We are delighted you will be joining us!

Following is some information we hope will allow for easy arrival and check-in to the conference:

If you are staying at the Copper Mountain Resort:

Coming from Interstate 70 (travelling east or west), you will exit onto CO-91 South (Exit 195) toward Copper Mountain / Leadville. Turn right onto Copper Road (approximately one half mile from I 70). Follow Copper Road for another half a mile to the Lodging Check-In / Athletic Club building -it will be on your right. When you check in to the resort, they will provide you with parking instructions and directions (there is parking for guests under most of the room buildings). Get settled and then make your way to the Copper Conference and Business Center , located at the southwest end of Center Village (if you attended the conference last year, it's the building across from the Pavilion, where the speaker meetings and workshops were held; this year, almost everything will happen in the Copper Conference Center). There will be signs both outside and inside the Conference Center directing you to Registration. Check in and let the spiritual extravaganza begin.

If you are not staying at the Copper Mountain Resort:

There are two parking lots you can use while attending Fellowship of the Spirit; both are located relatively near the Copper Conference Center , which is where the bulk of FOTS will take place this year. After turning onto Copper Road (see above), continue past the Athletic Club and keep to the right when the road forks. You will pass the Chapel on your left. Next to the Chapel is the Chapel Lot , which you can use for parking. If that lot is full, or, if for some reason, it rubs you the wrong way, continue straight on Copper Road for another half mile. When the road begins bending left, look for Beeler Lot on your right. In either case, after parking, make your way to the Copper Conference and Business Center , located at the southwest end of Center Village (if you attended the conference last year, it's the building across from the Pavilion, where the speaker meetings and workshops were held; this year, almost everything will happen in the Copper Conference Center). There will be signs both outside and inside the Conference Center directing you to Registration. Check in and let the spiritual extravaganza begin.

Arrive on Thursday.
You'll really want to be there when the fun starts. This is a four-day conference—a day longer than most. The program kicks off at 3:00 PM Thursday, with a First Step workshop, and never lets up. By Friday night, half of the workshops are history!

Fly to where?
The largest major airport in the region is Denver International, 102 miles east of Copper mountain. Major carrier commercial air service is also available at Eagle County Airport, 55 miles west of Copper Mountain

After the flight, then what?
You will need transportation to Copper Mountain. Visit the FOTS Local Information page for transportation options.

And if I'm driving?
The drive to the conference site from Denver takes about 2 hours, not counting airport time for luggage, getting to transportation, etc. And, if you haven't been to Denver International Airport, it is very large, so allow plenty of time there.

Sunday traffic can be very slow.
Lots of people love the Colorado mountains—and prove it every weekend. Your trip back to Denver can be an hour or more longer than your trip to Copper Mountain. You may want to schedule an evening flight for your return. Some people just stay an extra day and return on Monday.

Book your lodging early to assure getting the accomodations you desire. Visit the FOTS Lodging page for more info.

Plan for the potluck.
See the FOTS page on Food at the Conference for details. Many people bring the makings for their favorite recipes, or for hometown regional cuisine. We've had salmon from Seattle, and Cajun cookin' from Louisiana. We can't wait to sample your culinary creation. Of course, you can always shop at Copper Mountain, too.
